Communication

Cedar Crest is a river-fed flow-through facility, drawing water from a tributary of the Saugeen River. Arlen and RJ noted how important it is to communicate with other fish producers regarding the health of animals. Given the nature of aquaculture and the difficulty having “closed” farms (i.e. flow-through and open pen systems are intimately linked to the environment and all of the disease exposure this can potentially bring), the experiences of other producers can alert you to potential disease risk in the area.
